Sitting here, typing resting being full, being or begining to be someone again.....
Afghanistan was a different dimension. A different world. A time to be out of my cacoon. 16 months is a long time to be deployed. For me it was a lifetime. It was a million years and a billion missions. It was a million Bullets and a hundred smiles. It was a million tears and a hundred smiles. It was a million beads of sweat and hundred million eye opening ecounters of "Real".
The Infantry and being a part of a certain Specialized portion of it is a big commitment. Take everything you Can't do all of your fears you can not overcome and go to War in the Infantry and you will find you Have overcome Them All once you are done.
You come home with something more than what you left with. A heavy heart for the people (Locals) you left to keep on living in there world. You leave the men who are just getting there and will soon make all the mistakes you have already made, and certain things that can't be explained unless you were there..... Living in dense woods on top of a mountain , seeing the same mountain peaks and REALLY seeing things, and smelling and hearing. .. Theres few places for that here. People go hiking or hunting to only imagine what its like to explore and be the First person or First American to Ever step foot on a mountain top..... I know because I was there. I was the First for many things. History is a first for me too because now, I am a Part of it. Forever.
